- Photos of ceilings, attic and exterior
- Date and time of the storm
- Receipts for tarping or water cleanup

Have ready
- Inspection report with slope photos

- Opinion on repair vs replacement
Step 3 · Day 2 to 5

Storm Shield Roofing is a contractor, not a public adjuster or law firm. We do not negotiate claims on your behalf, and Texas law prohibits contractors from waiving deductibles. This page is sample educational content.
The adjuster meeting
The 45 minutes that decide most roof claims. Here is what happens and how to prepare.
- Confirm the appointment window and make sure the adjuster can access the backyard and attic.
- Have our inspection report ready; we can attend and walk the roof with the adjuster.
- Point out soft metal damage, fence spatter and interior leaks, not only shingles.
- Ask when to expect the estimate and whether your policy pays replacement cost or actual cash value.
- Take notes on what was measured and photographed.

Documentation checklist
Keep these in one folder or email thread from day one.
Insurance questions
We work with every carrier. You file and own your claim; we document damage, can attend the adjuster meeting and submit supplements for missed items.
No. Texas law prohibits contractors from waiving, absorbing or rebating a deductible. Anyone offering to do so is putting your claim at risk.
We review the denial with you and the report. Sometimes a re-inspection is warranted; sometimes the damage truly is wear and tear. We will tell you honestly. This is not legal advice.
Stay safe first. Then photograph damage, check ceilings and the attic for water, and call for a free inspection. If water is coming in, call the storm line for emergency tarping.
